Dani Bernstein - Biography
After schooling at Chetham's, Dani came under the wing of world-renowned tutor Frederic Cox at the Royal Northern College of Music. Frederic's protégées make for a long list that includes among others, John Mitchenson, Ryland Davies, Anne Howells, and Elizabeth Harwood.
Dani's early singing roles - she appeared on TV and radio and sung at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Sadler's Wells and Manchester's Free Trade Hall - gave way to a long and successful career in advertising where she rose to director-level at leading London agencies. In business Dani applied many of the things she'd learnt at the RNCM - bringing her talents for theatre, performance and vocal projection to the commercial world of motivation and team building. Always a people person, she also expanded her motivation work, taking on coaching assignments using cognitive behavioural techniques. While performance singing could not be reconciled with a busy business career, Dani maintained her love affair with the human voice, continuing her music and voice training work outside the office.
Leaving the world of advertising in 2006 Dani threw herself back into the music profession full time, developing a portfolio career in the business. Keeping her own voice in tip-top condition she continues to work with David and Carrie Grant - the highly successful, long-time music professionals who came to the public's attention for their TV appearances on Fame Academy and Pop Idol. David and Carrie are widely recognised as the UK's foremost voice coaches, with clients that include Lemar, Melanie C, Will Young and Charlotte Church. Dani is particularly indebted to David, who through his guidance has become something of a personal mentor.
Nowadays, Dani divides her time widely. Alongside her teaching work, Dani has a busy programme of singing commissions for corporate events, private parties and special occasions. Meanwhile, she continues to push her own vocal boundaries, working on progressive projects with acclaimed professionals. Most recently - with Tim Maple, Music Director on ITV's X Factor - Dani recorded several highly contemporary arrangements of Purcell and Bizet classics.
